Miracle Temple Church Complex COGIC History

The church originated from the Mount Olive Baptist Church. In 1963, Elder Nathaniel Davis, the pastor at that time, received a higher calling in Christ Jesus in the person of the Holy Ghost. At that time, the Baptist community's brethren did not readily accept him, so he began a new adventure. The church name is not simply a name but a name with meaning. The Lord performed several miracles on our pastor, Pastor Nathaniel Davis. The Lord healed him of a brain tumor, and he was shot by an assailing bullet five (5) times in some of the most delicate parts of the human body. Another time, his left arm was shot off by a high-powered rifle; the bullet went through his chest, missing the lung and heart, piercing a portion of his liver. The medical world said that he wouldn’t live, but God worked a miracle: he lived, his left arm was reattached, and he was able to use it very well, and there were no impairments to his body. So you see how the name “Miracle Temple” came about.

In 1964, God saved a young Joshua, who later became known as TJ Rodgers. After receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, where Elder David Tabb Sr. served as pastor, God guided TJ Rodgers and his family to Franklin Miracle Temple. There, he served faithfully under Pastor Nathaniel Davis as a deacon and president of the Y.P.W.W. In 1970, the Lord called TJ Rodgers into the ministry.

The Lord recognized in Elder TJ Rodgers the qualities of faithfulness, compassion, love, dedication, and devotion to His work. Pastor Davis acknowledged these qualities and elevated Elder TJ Rodgers to the position of Assistant Pastor. He served faithfully in that role until God promoted him to the position of Pastor at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, where he continues to be devoted. The Lord had already blessed the church by relocating from Twenty-First and Franklin to 4702 Olive Street, where God further blessed Pastor Davis with the ability to lead many souls to salvation. In March of 1980, following the death of Bishop Columbus Williams, our new Bishop, Bishop Wesley W. Sanders, installed Elder TJ Rodgers as the Pastor of Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ.

Through tribulation, distress, persecution, and suffering, God has brought us this far by faith. Many events have transpired. God has performed numerous miracles and continues to do so. In February 1982, the Lord chose to bless our former assistant pastor, Elder Isadore Davis Jr., with the opportunity to establish his own church. Elder Isadore Davis Jr., one of the sons of Miracle Temple, began a mission for the Lord: the “Greater Faith” Church of God in Christ.

Under the leadership of Pastor TJ Rodgers and the young ministers, God is pouring out His Spirit on His people. Souls are being saved, confused minds are being delivered, bodies are healed, broken hearts are mended, and the oppressed are set free. Whatever you mention, the Lord is doing it here! Pastor TJ Rodgers is a kind and wonderful person, and his wife, our emeritus first lady, has worked alongside him. The people are dedicated to fulfilling the works of Him who sent them while it is day.

The Lord blessed us with the opportunity to buy a small church at 884 Canaan. Although we had very little space there, the members worked hard, and the Lord enabled us to grow beyond that church, which could accommodate no more than one hundred people. Since then, the Lord has greatly blessed us, and we now reside in a different building with much more room. The new location is at 4001-03 Jennings Station Road, Pine Lawn, MO 63121.

We are blessed with the space to launch many additional ministries, including Youth Ministry, Community Outreach Programs, support groups for Women and Men, and a Food Pantry.

Our church has sponsored a job fair for the community. Other ministries include Family Christian Guidance, marriage workshops, life skills, and spiritual development workshops. Recently, we added a mentorship program that allows us to work with at-risk youth from St. Louis County Court.

Yet many more things have transitioned. In 2008, the Lord took us into various areas to reveal how mightily His hand is upon our ministry. As we continue to move forward with the vision that the Lord has placed in our hearts, we will strive to continually reach the mark of the High Calling.
